All previous showings (since 1960) were merely highlight films of the tournament. But today, CBS showed several extended segments of the original CBS-TV play-by-play telecast of the final round of the 1960 Masters, complete with their play-by-play announcers (none of their voices sounded familiar to me). It was pretty cool, if you're into that sort of thing. And even better, they had it colorized (the original telecast was in B&W). Randy

Jim McKay didn't sound familiar to you? Seems like Chris Schenkel was on the crew, too. -- Chris Bellomy C-List Charter Member http://clist.org/

Seems like Chris Schenkel > was on the crew, too. I didn't watch the whole thing, and I didn't hear them. Certainly I know who they are, and I think I would have recognized either of their voices. The announcers I did hear didn't sound familiar. Recently on NFL Network, they began airing the original play-by-play telecasts of some of the old Super Bowls. About a month ago, they showed Super Bowl III (Jets 16, Colts 7), televised in January, 1969. And seeing the primative graphics and rudimentary use of green screen technology was a real hoot for someone like me who does video production. Similarly, the production values on the 1960 telecast of The Masters was not exactly like what we see today. Although it wasn't noticeably more primative than what I saw on the Super Bowl III telecast of nine years later. Which just goes to show that The Masters has always demanded cutting edge work from their network partner. (Even if it may not always appear that way to some.) Randy

Speaking of announcers, I thought it was cool that CBS had Pat Summerall doing the voiceover for the opening sponsor billboards. Lee -- To e-mail, replace "bucketofspam" with "dleegordon" _________________________________ Lee Gordon http://www.leegordonproductions.com
