Did anyone else notice the orange and white 'stick' in Howell's bag on
Sunday?

I only got to see the last hour of the round on Sunday so I don't know if
anything was said about it during the broadcast. It looked like a shaft,
colored with 6" alternating orange and white sections. I didn't see a head
so I don't think it was a club.

That was either Charles Howell's twin brother or Pflum wearing his
Tennessee Volunteers outfit.

No way you could possibly kill one with a golf club, that you'd have
in your hand already?

Howell: "There's a snake attacking me."
Caddy: "Do you want to use the three iron in your hand?"
Howell: "No, give me that 4' orange and black stick........ Never
mind, he's already bitten me. Got a cell phone handy? The gallery
has scattered."

I thought he carried a hybrid - my "What's in my bag" Google pulled up
a fairly old response. I wonder if he considered using it in his
chip from the cart path.

Rules question: Before a sudden death overtime, can one swap out
clubs? I would think it's a new round.

Interesting question as the ROG does Stipulated Rounds not tournaments.
Clubs may be changed between Stipulated Rounds. In match play, extra holes
are considered an extension of the Stipulated Round. It seems logical to
allow the Committee to do the same with sudden death.

Overtime in medal play has several models. An 18 hole playoff
appears to be a new round. What about a 3 hole playoff?

If a 3 hole playoff is also considered a new round, why not any medal
play playoff?

As you indicate, it may be entirely up to the Committee to decide
whether the playoff is a new round or not.

See Decisoin 4-3/12 - the play-off is a new round.

Seems sort of silly to carry a snake stick when all you have to and should
do is haul ass out of dodge.
