http://oncampus.richmond.edu/academics/education/projects/webunits/greecerome/Greecesports1.html The winners of events in the Olympic Games recevied a wreath of laurel or olive leaves to wear on their heads. When they received their wreaths, the winners would shout out their names, their family, and the city where they lived. Do you think Tiger would be satisfied with that? No multi-million dollar contracts back then. Also if you took away Tiger's millions-strong internet fan-boys what would he have left?

Silly non sequitar observation. First off, I'm not a big TW fan. Secondly, I am a bit of a history buff. With that said, you of course realize that Tiger Woods did not form the PGA or set prizes for the PGA events. If golf were in fact part of the Ancient Olympiad and Tiger Woods was alive then, I would imagine he would be satisified with whatever the tournament prize was. Now if you want to argue a whole paradigm shift of the role of sports through various times and civiliazations, you could go somewhere with this history blurb. But a lot more needs to be looked at (the role of advertising dollars, the population boom, the corporate model mentality).
