Funny thing about golf courses in Georgia. Few that I've played have enough potty boxes strategically positioned throughout the layout of the course, so quite often, one must just find a spot in the woods when one must. So we get to the 17th tee today. A fellow in our group steps away to find a safe spot in the wooded area beside the tee to relieve himself. Just as he was about to unzip, a voice cried out from the balcony in the back of the house nearby, "Don't you even think about peeing in my back yard!" yelled the woman. Of course the guy wasn't in her back yard; he was on the golf course's property. (The resident's property begins at the creek, and he was several yards short of that.) And for the record, the guy was going to go closely facing a tree trunk, with his back to her house, so she wasn't going to be exposed to his um...well...you know.. "I'm calling the clubhouse!" she screams. Sheesh. The guy, in a most accommodating fashion, just yelled back, "Okay, fine, I'm leaving," and didn't pursue his nature call any further in that location. I, on the other hand, thought she was being considerably more testy than the situation called for, and I shouted back, saying, "So do you have the same surly reaction when squirrels shit in your back yard?" Perhaps not my best moment, but I was pretty ticked off, and her behavior seemed at the time to more than justify my impromtu reaction. Interestingly, some man who appeared to be rooting around in the woods (looking for snakes? contact lenses? who knows?) -- her neighbor, presumably -- called out to me, saying, "Don't lower yourself to her level." So evidently, the neighbors already knew her to be something of a loose cannon. Or the town drunk. Something. While I was waiting for the other guys to hit their tee shots, I overheard her on her cordless phone, and sure enough, she seemed to be complaining to the clubhouse. As we took off in our carts, I heard her informing them that we were driving away, on up the fairway. As if they would dispatch the "Urination Nazis" to take us in for questioning, or 20 lashes, or something. Of course when we finished the round and returned the carts to the clubhouse, no one there said a word to us. What could they have said? "We're told you were thinking about peeing near one of our neighbors, but then didn't." ?? About the only thing they could possibly have said would have been to me about shouting out a four-letter word to the woman. This, I guess, is that southern hospitality you hear so much about. By the way, this was my first round in quite a while. Didn't play great, but hit a few good shots, chipped and putted pretty well, and birdied the last hole...forcing me, of course, to come back tomorrow. I will be sure to look for this charming woman again. Randy

If there's one thing I can't stand is someone taking a piss behind a tree just off the tee or green on any track. Doing so leaves a stench over time; because each idiot that feels that behavior is acceptable, always finds the same spot. I know of 3 upscale muni's that have similar problems with visitors on two - three holes. If someone did that on the street or in an alley and a police officer watched they'd be incarcerated and fined. There are public decency laws against such behavior. At my pvt club, a similar thing happened; but by a member that claimed he couldn't wait 3 holes. The woman called the club house and reported the member. His infraction was put in front of the board and a hefty fine was levied; 2nd time, suspension; 3rd total expulsion, and rightfully so. -- Hit'em long and straight:) SDig

The woman that lives next door actually had a very clever & funny sign made and put up on a tree with the red circle & slash through a stick figure of a man urinating. In her defense - she contends that *she* gets to see views she doesn't like and after all it *is* only the 3rd tee box and the guys *could* use the facilities on the 4th tee box. From what I can tell, most women (including woman golfers such as my neighbor) dislike the practice intensely, and most guys really don't care. I have noticed that there are a number of guys who seem to think that as long as they are shielded from the view from the course - that the rest of the world doesn't exist. One morning, as I sat on my balcony having a morning cigar - a guy took one step off the cart path at the white tees behind my house and watered the pampus grass. Not a sight I wanted to wake up to either.

When I lived downstate, a yearly 25k running race course went in front of my home, and every year multiple runners would piss in my yard because of the privacy my small pine trees provided them. My brother was over one year and he was shocked at the number of runners "going" in my yard, so he decided he was going to do something about it. When the next guy pulled up on my property, my brother, against my advice, walked up to him and told him to stop and that he was on private property. It was after the runner's unfortunate response to my brother.......the cop.......that he was face down in his own urine puddle, being handcuffed. Randy, I guess what I'm trying to say is that your buddy is a boorish asshole.

Then the boorish, pompous ass had to open his big, fat mouth - he just can't help himself after all these years. Seems to him it's perfectly acceptable to urinate in front of other's homes as long as you're not on their property and you have your back turned. What an ass......

One time he looked out his back yard to see a woman player doing just that.
