One group seems to think the government should be run like a business,
but when they do so, with all the favoritism and cronyism associated
with business, they cry foul!

The other group thinks businesses should be run like the government,
but when they do so by overpaying themselves and arbitrarily making
decisions that negatively affect large numbers of people, they cry
foul!

Then there are the socialists who always worry about other peoples
capital! These people are idiots!

The problem those groups have is a lack of understanding that politics
is politics and business is business. But while there are aspects of
each that play in the other, the two systems are not interchangeable.

There are many incongruities in political life. Voters say they want to
elect someone who speaks his mind. When they do, and he does, they
abandon him as a trouble maker who can't get along.

Voters also say they want someone with fresh ideas to make changes. Of
course, when change is proposed, they resist it vehemently.

Voters insist they want their leaders to lead. What they really want is
leaders who do exacly what they're told.

Agreed. However you're not going to find many sane people on USENET.
