Hey RetiredUSArmy or any of you other toothless Alabama rednecks.
Any of you guys ever played the RT Jones Trail Course in Prattville?
I think it's called the Senator or something (probably named after
Strom Thurmond like the plane Cheney flies in). That's the course
that the LPGA is playing in September and I figured I might wanna go
down there sometime and scout it out sometime.

Heck, we could even have a RSG event there ..... "The Pratfall in
Prattville."

We already had one Gaines N. hosted. 3 nice courses, the Judge,
Senator and Legislator I was about 2 miles from them for a month when
I evacuated for Katrina. Didn't play them once.

Yes, but none of them will be hosting a LPGA event later this year.
Figured I might as well play the track before going down to watch the
ladies.

Lemme know when you're goin' down there. I might just meet ya there.

The only time I played the course, it was an RSG event organized by Gaines
Nichols (what ever happened to him, anyway?), and we got rained off the
course after about 4 holes.

It was an awfully long drive for just 4 holes of golf.

Prattville, by the way, is just on the other side of the river from Maxwell
AFB in Montgomery. So you're talking clear to the southern part of Alabama.

You do know there are RTJ Trail courses that are much closer to you, right?

I kinda doubt it.
One time Mikey and I were playin these two lesbian pros. We played
Round Robin, switching partners after every 6 holes. Me and the lead
dyke were killing Mikey and the other gal on the second 6 holes, and
on the 12th tee (the final hole of that round) the other girl says,
"Hey, we need a push on this hole!"

I said, "You want a push? Bend over that bench right there!"
That ended the begging.

I sure do miss those gals. They were a hoot to play with.
One time I pured a Hogan 2-iron and reked, "Wow, that was better
than sex!" One of the girls said, "You need to get out more."

The good news is that I always hit it straight.
The bad news is that I rarely know in which direction.
Straight Out of Bounds, Straight into the hazard, etc.

There are three there as I recall; The Judge, The Senator, and The
Legislator. The Judge has one of the prettiest opening holes that
you will ever see. It was, at one time, on the outside of the ALDOT
state highway map....

Seems it also has a 700+ yd Par 5(from the tips), I think...

Why not start setting up an RSG event there, Anni?

That's because it was the week before the Nike Tour Championship when
we played there. And it was raining. I have been there a couple of
other times, and it has no real rough and the fairways are more like
100 yards wide. It was fun to play a real golf course though!

That's true. The time I played there, you guys had already played 18 while
I was driving down from Atlanta. I joined you in your second round, and we
were rained off the course after about 4 holes. I guess you got in about 22
holes, but I only got to play about 4.

Your memory is very good. It was around the time the course was being
readied (or had just hosted) the Nike TOUR Championship, and the rough was
mean (and wet, from rain the previous few days).

I'm not a big fan of RTJ courses. They tend to be excessively penal for
wayward shots, and virtually remove any possibility at all for a recovery
shot. You're almost always just chipping out.

But I guess if you keep it in the short grass, most any golf course can be
had.

If it were only that easy.

Anni immediately makes a crack about toothless Alabama rednecks, and
then a few lines later admits to fancying a visit there.

"People don't go to Alabama on purpose, they just end up there."

That quote won me a second place belt buckle in the "Name Alabama's New
State Motto Contest".

"Hee Yuk" took the grand prize.

If it's like all the rest of the RTJ tracks, it's overpriced and
overly difficult for 95% of the everyday golfers on the planet. RSG
excluded, of course...what with it's disproportionate allocation of
<cough > single digit 'cappers.
