He was talking about how female golfers need to play out of the rough
more to develop the strength in their arms which will let them put
more backspin on the ball. I said the same thing a couple weeks back
about michelle and I couldn't get one person here at RSG to understand
that.

Sure they can. There's even a better chance from the rough. That's why
I hit a 160 yard 9-iron yesterday. Flyer! :-)

And if you hadn't noticed, Faldo's not exactly the sharpest knife in
the drawer. So you
have something else in common.

90% is too high, but I think we're talking about PGA players, not all
male players.

Even with male PGA players, 90% is *way* too high. Most male PGA
players can't hit a seven iron 190 yards from the middle of the
fairway, let alone from 5" rough.

You're arguing the details, not the basis of the thesis which still holds.

You may remember me. I used to be called Howard U. Dewing, but only one
guy ever answered the question.

No. I don't.

Didn't see the post, but here's what I said in a MW thread recently in
response to a suggestion that she can build strength playing men's events:

"She won't build up any strength playing golf anywhere. The strength she
needs to compete with men is found in the gym and the weight room. And
even if she spends the next 5 years there, she will still be a woman
trying to compete in a man's game. Annika S. is perhaps the strongest,
most skilled and fittest woman player today, and she's not a factor
against the men.

Hitting a 280 yd drive is such a tiny aspect of the game that people
seem to overlook all the other elements where MW is lacking. She cannot
get the ball out of 5" rough onto the green from 190 yds with a 7i like
90% of the male players can. And no amount of playing 84 Lumber events
will alter that."

Theres not that many male players that can do that either. 90% is WAY too
high.
