So, I found out Golfsmith offers a swing eval on their launch moniter
for $30. No big deal, but I sniffed around further and found a
schedule of Taylor Made Demo days and Performance Van events at
various clubs around town. I'm going next week to see if I can get a
free fitting.

The Golfsmith here in LA has a simulator that they let you use for free
if you are testing clubs. It shows you the ball flight on a big screen,
and then gives you numbers for distance, launch angle and spin rate. Not
as complete a real "launch monitor" probably, but most of the important
information. Of course, having a professional fitting with a complete
launch monitor is most likely better.

Swing sessions on the monitor at the Golfsmith here in NJ are free.

I enjoyed the launch monitor session I did a lot. I did mine with a
local clubfitter, but what was interesting is you could test different
balls and evaluate which ball/club/shaft combination was best.

I had tested drivers in pretty good detail before settling on my current
one, and I felt that with the ProV1 I was getting really good results.
The monitor actually *proved* that of the clubs and balls we tested, I
hit my existing setup the best.

Shouldn't be too tough. I was at a Golfsmith last Saturday and hit
the new Nike. They had the launch monitor set up for no charge.

Actually, it was quite helpful. I found that with the new equipment I
still have swing flaws, so I'm working on those before plunking down $
on a new club.
