Subject: New Anthem for RSG - put it to a vote
It occurred to me today that there is no theme song for RSG...we have
no anthem. As such, I hereby nominate Fear's "Let's Have a War" - I
think it's fitting:

-----------------------------------------------------

FEAR

"Let's Have A War"

There's so many of us
There's so many of us
There's so many [x2]
There's so many of us
There's so many of us
There's so many

Let's have a war
So you can go and die!
Let's have a war!
We could all use the money!
Let's have a war!
We need the space!
Let's have a war!
Clean out this place!

It already started in the city!
Suburbia will be just as easy!

Let's have a war!
Jack up the Dow Jones!
Let's have a war!
It can start in New Jersey!
Let's have a war!
Blame it on the middle-class!
Let's have a war!
We're like rats in a cage!

It already started in the city!
Suburbia will be just as easy!

Let's have a war!
Sell the rights to the networks!
Let's have a war!
Let our wallets get fat like last time!
Let's have a war!
Give guns to the queers!
Let's have a war!
The enemy's within!

It already started in the city!
Suburbia will be just as easy!

-----------------------------------------------------

I'll nominate Nick Lowe's "Crackin Up."
==================

Crackin up, l'm getting ready to go
Had enough, I can't take any more
No pills that I can take
This is too real and there ain't no escape
It scares the daylights
it makes a nighte
l'm tense and l'm nervous.
Everybody all around me
Shakin' hands and sayin' howdy
l don't think it's funny no more
Crackin up, like a worn out shoe
Ain't wet, but the world's leakin' through
l'd run, but I find no pace
l laugh, but it's wrecking me
- wrecking me
It make a shiver, it make a shake
It make a monster, just like an earthquake
Everybody havin' fun
l don't know how the can carry on
'Cause I don't think it's funny no more
At dead of night time, at crack of dawn
It comes upon me without warning
If I were a gunman I would shoot
l'd tear the hair out by the root
l'd make a knife out of a notion
All at sea in an ocean of a emotion
l don't think it's funny no more
l don't think it's funny no more
- crackin up
I don't think it's funny no more
- crackin up

Your assumption was correct, until two months ago, when this lifelong
Oregonian became a Washingtonian. Specifically a Kalama cliff dweller.
Other than waiting in vain for somebody to pump my gas, it's been a
smooth transition. Best yet....I'm saving about 6k in taxes.

Golf is getting back on my priority list. Only played about 10 rounds
this summer.

That memory, along with watching Buege get beat by a girl, are my two
favorite memories of the first year RSG-NW. Lots of exuuuuuuberant
laughs.

Well, I booted up the site, and noticed that Mr. Holo has a problem
with the fact that the site downloads trojans. Of course Mr. Holo knows
full well that these things accumulate in your computer, and over time,
slow it down to the point where you can't use it any more, if nothing
else.

FWIW, we have software to protect ourselves on the computer I am using
here, but I can't afford it at home, where I simply don't boot up any
site that wants to download a trojan because they can and do damage
your computer...not all, maybe even not only most, but who needs any?
In any event, I am not alone in avoiding any site that downloads a
trojan of any kind, and I hardly think being so, and providing a
warning about it is any sort of antisocial act.

Hi, Greg

I didn't realize you were in Longview. For some reason I was thinking
Portland. Anyway, I haven't swung a club in about a year-and-a-half.
Just seem to always have enough going on that I find it either
difficult or guilt inducing to spend four or five hours without taking
at least something off my "To Do" list.

Maybe I'll have to start putting "Play Golf" on my to do list!

I miss the old days when I was an ambassador at my course and I could
step out my back door and play six or seven holes without feeling like
I was burning time allocated for something else, or without feeling
like I was "sneaking on". I liked it when my perqs included the golf
buffet.

Although I haven't even been to RSG-NW in about three years, I think, I
still recall that crazy shot in our alternate-shot round where I was on
my hands & knees using my putter like a croquet mallet to move the ball
out from under that branch while the two PO'd magpies were raising all
that ruckus right above my head! It was a round to remember! I enjoyed
it and still feel bad that we got thumped despite your pretty decent
play. Oops! My fault.

Greg ... Take care. Pick your battles. All that good stuff. :-)

Dave,

I had forgotten, until I reviewed the RSGNW 2002 page, that you also
played the practice round with Judy, Carol, and Kelly and had a story to
tell about that too:

http://rsgnw.wienerman.com/2002/dave.htm

You certainly made Judy and Carol feel welcome at their first ever
tournament in their first year of playing golf.

Thanks for that memory... Bob

Nice try! It wouldn't boot up on my computer because my computer wouldn't
allow the trojan.
