This isn't fooling anyone. It's really gender testing and i think they
should just come out and say so.

LPGA Tour Plans Drug Testing in 2008

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Published: November 16, 2006

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Cristie Kerr's eyes lit up when she
considered how her emotions would react if given the chance to win $1
million this weekend at the ADT Championship. ''You'd be not human or
on beta-blockers to not react to that -- which they're going to test
for now,'' Kerr said.

Indeed, drug testing is coming to pro golf.

The LPGA Tour said Wednesday it will begin testing players for
performance-enhancers in 2008, a move that makes it the first major
golf tour to announce a drug-testing program.

Specifics of the testing plan will be worked up over the next six to
nine months, said LPGA commissioner Carolyn Bivens. The tour plans to
announce the program details, including testing methods and banned
substances, in the second half of the 2007 season.

''While we have no evidence to date that any of our players are using
performance-enhancing drugs, we need to have a very clear policy and a
program in place,'' Bivens said. ''We want to take a proactive role.''

Meanwhile, the PGA Tour said Wednesday that its board this week
authorized the tour to develop a list of prohibited substances and to
create an education program that would inform players about banned
substances, how they might get into the body, the health risks, the
nature of any potential testing and possible penalties.

Currently, PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem has the authority to
impose drug testing at his discretion, but he has said there has not
been any evidence of drug use that would cause him to do that.

''We need more than somebody just saying, 'Why don't you go test and
make sure?''' he said in August.

Tiger Woods is among PGA Tour players who believe there should be drug
testing.

Annika Sorenstam, the top-ranked women's player, said she had no
problem with the LPGA's plan, yet added that it's ''sad that we have to
have testing.''

''Golf is not like other sports,'' said Sorenstam, who was tested as a
college player. ''I believe in this sport. I believe in the people out
here. ... I don't think you're going to see anything out here, so it
might be a waste of time. But if it's peace of mind for people and if
we need to prove that the LPGA's clean, then let's do it.''

Kerr added that testing would protect ''the honor of the game.''

''If you've got nothing to hide, you've got nothing to worry about,''
Kerr said.

The European Tour is working on a policy that chief executive George
O'Grady said will be effective ''in the near future.'' Players at last
month's World Amateur Team Championships in South Africa were tested,
and other tests have been held at events in France and Portugal,
O'Grady said.

The LPGA will work to develop the new policy with the National Center
for Drug Free Sport, which also manages testing programs for the NCAA
and other organizations.

''We recognize the concerns regarding drug use in sport and the need to
have a clear policy and program in place,'' Bivens said.

The announcement was made on the eve of the LPGA's season-ending ADT
Championship, a 32-player event that begins Thursday and carries a
first prize of $1 million, the largest in tour history.

So, by not joining the LPGA, it would seem that
Michelle Wie could avoid said drug testing.

Probably not. Any player in an LPGA event regardless of how they got in
should be subject to testing.

Hi unc! Good to see you around!

I'd be inclined to believe that her's is due to weights and excersize.
I took up the weights 3 year ago and it has made a tremendous
difference. (Except for skinny gray haired guys that kept outdriving
me at Shuksun last spring <g >) She already had game, so, why would she
have risked it with drugs?

I doubt the conspiracy in this one...

Dood - EVERYTHING is a conspiracy. Get yer butt outa yer head.

PS - you're right about annika though. She really did beef up and of
course we were given the usual crap about how it's all do to
weightlifting.!! That argument can work for men but not women. They
just about have to use roids or HGH to get bigger.

There are exceptions. Take Annika for instance, who is a well documented
exercise freak. Weights, hundreds of sit-ups every day. Roids? We'll
never know. Either way, she wouldn't be the first lady who exercised her
titties away.

Believe it or not, there isn't a conspiracy around every corner. They've
been meeting and discussing this for years. If there was a catalyst, it
could be when Annika showed up a few seasons back, rather suddenly looking
like Barry Bonds. The thrust is to proactively assure that the tour is
clean, before it has a chance to get dirty.

Fortunately, the caddies are not targeted for testing.

And in related news, Annika Sorenstam has announced her immediate
retirement.

I think the LPGA players should be subject to random body-cavity
searches (by me, of course), but certain players like Pat Hurst, Betty
Iverson, & Meg Mallon should be given lifetime exemptions.

Look for Vijay to do the same when the PGA starts testing.

TGC had a panel discussion on this yesterday, and I was amazed at the
ignorance shown by so-called experts. You would think that with all
the major league pitchers who are turning up positive, people would
stop thinking that one shot of steroids makes your muscles huge. What
they do is greatly increase your recovery ability. If you spend your
time lifting heavy weights, that will help your muscles grow. If you
spend your time beating golf balls, that will help you to practice
longer.

If that's all it was used for, sports wouldn't need testing - steroids
are an effective medicine. But it is so easy to abuse a good thing.
People use a bit to heal, and a bit more to build up some more - and
then more obviously (Bonds was trying to equalize the playing field
with some other steroid users - and then some). And then we get
freaks like "the man whose biceps exploded" - and half of the top body
builders of an era arrested for manslaughter.

Same thing - Olympians have to suffer from hay fever rather than pop
down to the grocery store for the medicine we take. Not because the
medicine is bad - but because the same ingredients have been abused.

Funny thing, we have pitchers with new tendons in their shoulders
(Tommy John surgery), and so far, that's OK (As are surgical fat
reduction and surgical eye enhancement). I wonder when surgical
enhancements will be abused enough to become illegal.

How about surgery to increase my wrist bend - just as much as
Sergio's? Or maybe, since I need it more - past Sergio's?

You are really ignorant if you think it's that simple.

It is that simple. Doctor looks at the external plumbing and checks off
female on the birth certificate.

Yet another stupid troll. The LPGA rules are female at birth so all they
need is the external plumbing to qualify.

I don't want to meet a female golfer with external plumbing.
