She's miserably failed on the PGA tour but if she started winning on
the LPGA then that would really accentuate the gap between the two
tours. People would say - "If the best on the LPGA can'd do squat on
the PGA, then lady golfers are even more inferior than i thought."

It would be best for everyone if michelle just went away. She can use
college as an excuse.

Apparently you don't understand your own question.

There's a reason for the different tour. THINK.

I'm not the one claiming the LPGA wants the female golfer with the
biggest name recognition in the world to crash and burn on their tour
because she can't beat Tiger and Phil.

Yes, because Birdie Kim has played many more LPGA events than Wie.
Also, because she is older, she is much closer to her potential than
Wie.

Annika only played one PGA event. She never had any plans of playing
the men''s tour. Only an idiot like you would coe her to Wie.

Um, like Annika Sorenstam? Oh, wait ...

Winning one tournament will not make Michelle Wie the best player on
the LPGA. (Just ask Birdie Kim.)

Maybe they are, but I'd guess more like 5-handicappers.

I think your point is valid in the long run, but until she wins
something on the LPGA tour then no one can really gauge her talent vs
the rest of the LPGA field. So far, Michelle Wie has been a golf
prodigy but without any big wins, making her look more and more like a
side show act on both tours. If she or Natalie Gulbis would win an LPGA
event this year, it would be a big boost to them personally plus help
the tour as well.

Her embarrassing play up to this point doesn't make the LPGA look bad
or weak (unlike Annika's debacle at Colonial), just her parents and
handlers..

But people do gauge her talent vs the rest of the LPGA field anyway.
Probably because she has played against the rest of the LPGA field.

The only time I saw her play in person she was a leader on Sunday in a
major - but dropped back in the pack - Birdie Kim won. Does that
mean I can gauge Birdie Kim's talent vs the rest of the field better
than I can gauge Michelle Wie's? Or can I look at the bunch of top
10 finishes Michelle has had in majors?

It's not that deep. A two year old could understand it.

You realize this has already happened right?

Gee, I wonder what it would look like if the lady who won 10 majors
in the LPGA went and competed with the men and didn't make the cut?

Here's a few other choice things that have happened that you might have
missed.
The LGPA top player participated in a skins game with folks from the
PGA
and won zero skins.

Several ladies from the LPGA played against folks from the PGA tour and
got beat, while playing from forward tees.

A 16 year old, 5 foot one boy made the cut and finished 20th or so and
Wie finished dead last and didn't make the cut.

Yet, contrary to your shallow point, the LPGA lives on. Go figure.

Do you understand my point.? It would really look bad for the ladies
tour if what turns out to be their best player couldn't come close to
making it on the PGA. Let's suppose that shell went from this horrible
performance at the Sony event to a victory on the LPGA tour. That would
make the LPGA look like a bunch of, by men's standards, 10
handicappers.

At this particular point, I don't think Michelle is anything close to the
"best player" on ANY tour.

Something has gone horribly wrong with her swing... at least with the
driver. You could count the number of fairways she hit in her two days at
the Sony on the fingers of one hand, (with fingers to spare.)

I don't know if its due to the wrist injury she says she incurred a few
months ago, or pressure-induced "nerves", or if Leadbetter's "teaching" has
thoroughly screwed up that beautiful, free-flowing Els-like swing she used
to have.

Its one thing for Tiger to knock half his drives into the rough, trees etc.
He has years of experience, and an enormous repertoire of shots that can
get him out of almost any kind of trouble 9 times out of 10 - Michelle does
not.

Until she resolves her current problems hitting off the tee, I don't think
Michelle's performance in LPGA events is going to be anywhere close to what
she's done in the past.

In fact, "people" didn't think Annika would break 80 on a PGA layout,
as I recall. So perhaps the gap is less than "people" think, or used
to think.

The gap is: on a really, really good day, a top woman can make the cut
against pro men. Michelle and Se Ri Pak have done it in Korea, and
Michelle got past the first stage of US Open qualifying. Babe Zaharias
made the cut many decades ago on the PGA tour three times. If
sufficient women keep trying, it will happen a few more times.

But can a woman, say, get and keep a PGA tour card by the standard
route? It doesn't look like it, based on what we've seen. Until that
happens, it's just publicity stunts, and they're starting to get old.

And I seriously doubt the LPGA wants Michelle to fail on their tour.
