A yellow finch to be exact. I was teeing off on a 366 yard par four. I hit a perfect drive straight and high. The best in a month for me. At about 100 yards out from the tee box a finch was traveling perpendicular to the ball flight. I hit it in mid flight. It fell straight down and we lost sight of the ball. Now this was a small bird, maybe 3.5 inches in length. It wasn't a heron or a Canadian goose. We were all very surprised. Well, we get to the fairway and find, first, the bird at about 100 yards out, then the ball about 160 yards from the pin. Now a 200 yard drive is a very nice drive for me. This one probably would have gone at least 220-230 had it not hit the bird. Well, it was downhill from there. I knocked the next shot into the hazard and the next was into the trap, over the green. So, I get a six, no help to the team. Mike
