The flagstick on 18 (and probably 16/17, too) looks about ready to snap
off and fly toward the skyboxes like a missile. The wind is insane!

I played that 17th hole one time when the wind was really howling.
I hit a pretty good shot and just missed the green pin-high right.
I only had a shot of maybe 25 feet to the pin and figured I'd hit my
trusty 60-degree wedge flop shot. Bad idea. The wind was coming hard
off the bay from the right and the ball got in the air and went
straight left. I've never had a chip shot that I had to play about 10
feet of "wind" on like that one.
Like the announcers said, you really aren't aware of any severe winds
until you get to your approach shot on #16. After that, you'd better
buckle your chin strap.
