I only need enough to do 8 grips. Assistant pro suggested Coleman fuel, another suggested dish soap and water.

Regardless of what solvent you use, make sure the area is well-ventilated. I don't like the idea of using fuels designed to catch on fire, so I like the less flammable stuff. Actually, I don't use any of those any more, I use the Brampton solvent (it's water-based). I didn't like the fumes. I dip the first inch of the thin end of the grip in solvent, then use an air compressor for the rest. No mess, no waste. Tried air only and found the thin end to get stuck as the shaft gets wider so a little (ahem) K-Y is needed :)

Pretty much any decent petroleum based solvent will work. Naptha, paint thinner, coleman fuel, etc. I've been using naptha since I can get a bottle for a couple bucks. Some grip tapes will work with soap and water, and I've tried them but they didn't work too well. I think the solvents work much, much better and are easier to work with. Dave
