Take it from the source. Doesn't have to be pretty or exciting - just
effective. I don't think it does too much for Nike sales when there
star attraction can't hit straight w/ there driver though. If I could
hit 225 straight w/ an iron I'de play irons all day long.

Hard to say whether he was targetting the organisers or course set up
or a certain you-know-who, although I think its the latter. Note that
he only has a problem if the guy WINS the tournament without using a
driver. If he doesn't win, then Norman is OK about it. Hmmmm

No, he was referring to last years' Open at Hoylake. The guy who won
didn't use a driver off the tee, ranked near the bottom in driving
distance, and yet, won the tournament.

It was a pretty off-base comment, 'cause when you think about it,
Hoylake's winner wasn't even #1 in driving distance for the year.
Based on his comments, a JB Holmes and Bubba Watson should be winning
all the time. For the record, I'm not one of the "Manco-types" of RSG
who regard the "2006 Open winner" as Diety. I agree with Nroman that
when "he" is on his game and runs away with tournaments, it DOES make
golf boring. But... it speaks volumes to what a complete player the
guy is, and the '06 Open was won on the fairways and the greens. Even
a hacker (ME) who is not a big fan of the guy can appreciate
this...so, for one of the all time greats of the game to make comments
like this makes him appear to be a sore, sour-grapes, jealous guy.

It's just another jealousy-driven rant from Norman. As someone else
stated, anybody else in the field - including Sergio and Mickelson -
had the length to tee off with irons as well. What Greg fails to
realize, it was the winner's mid-iron play and putting that won the
tournament, so no, it wasn't "the power game" that won the tournament.

Sour grapes from the unaccomplished CHOKER.

Yes he said that after Tiger won the British Open and beat the day lights
out of his (Normans) yellow clad soon to be whiney whiney son in law Sergio
Garcia
Norman and Garcia deserve each other.....

Any of the golfers out there are long enough that they could have
played 2-iron off the tee, as well. The course was dry and fast. Why
they did not is a big mystery to me. At any rate, Garcia's problem
was his putting and not his game tee to green on Sunday.

Tiger is guilty of this and yes it does take some of the thrill from golf
when guys are "teeing" off with irons. PGA could stop this if they would
cool off golf balls but the golf ball industry won't stand for that.

Idiotic Norman at his best. You can tell the difference when somebody's
holding 12 major trophies.

Apparently someone else agrees because that is the reason for the
lengthening of numerous courses on tour.

What do Greg Norman's bowel movements have to do with why numerous golf
courses have been lengthened?

And what do the length of Greg Norman's numerous bowel movements have to do
with golf?

Thanks for the update. How were his bowel movements today?
