Snip from the Chicago Sun Times: ========== SAN ANTONIO -- A golfer who made a hole-in-one last month at a charity golf tournament and won $50,000 is being sued by a teammate over how the money should be spent. Brit tin was recruited by Mike Neutze to play on a team in a tournament. Neutze, who sponsored the team, picked tin to try his swing at the hole-in-one competition. ========= For the full drivel visit: http://www.suntimes.com/news/nation/120968,CST-NWS-golf02.article

If he thought he could've possibly made it himself he'd have taken the shot himself. The money goes to the guy making the shot. If a tour pro has a sponsor and wins $1,000,000 that sponsor doesn't get $500,000 unless he has a contract specifying his share. Do you think this fool had a contract? I kinda doubt it. My friend's rich boss sponsored a 4-man team (including me, my friend,& Young Joseph) in a high-dollar tournament one time. He put up the $1000 for the team entry and we got to keep all the nice tee prizes like travel bags, caps, etc. We ate the barbeque at the dinner, not him. When Young Joseph won the long drive prize of two airplane tickets anywhere in the US, guess who went on the trip? Young Joseph and his wife, not the sponsor. It is also unclear from the article whether only one golfer got a shot for the hole-in-one prize or like most tournaments, everyone gets a shot. It sounds like the host let the other guy take the host's place for his swing, but it could mean that the host simply invited the guy to play and everybody got a shot.

Obviously not. He would've taken it himself. Oops, I misread the post I was responding to. I thought Pete said no one shared cash prizes. That's usually the case when you all pay for your own entry fee.

That's because you usually pay your own way, and everyone gets a shot. In this case, there are two reasons it is different: (1) One guy sponsored the entire team. (2) The sponsor picked the guy to hit the shot. You think if he knew that the guy would keep the money he would let him take the shot? Obviously not. He would've taken it himself.

I assume the prize was entirely allocated to the golfer who hit the shot and not he and his sponsor. Anyone who would file suit over a measley 25 grand for which he did nothing to earn other than point a finger is obviously an inbecile. I predict the courts will decide in fucktard's favor and award him the entire amount, plus punitive damages... plus the entire set of clubs owned by the real golfer, plus half interest in all his future earnings and any golf balls he should ever purchase or find. After all, this did occur in Shitcago. ----- - gpsman

But these days, who knows? Why do you say that? When playing in team competitions, I have never played in one where we didn't share cash prizes. I thought everyone did this.

Seems pretty simple, tin and Neutze should split the 50k. If Neutze wants to give his money to a firefighter's assoc, he can.
