One more indication that the Chinese are quite serious about competing
with us on the world scene:

Every college student in China is required to learn English to graduate;
now this.

It has occurred to me that one could probably form a college which
would
be the sports equivelant of MIT. The folks there would be there to
study
their sport, or sport related field. Football players might actually
learn
the rules, not to mention some history, and various theories of the
game.
Trainers could study in an environment with one heck of a "lab". And
much like MIT has all manners of research grants from various companies
and industry organizations, such a school could easily have the
"Gatorade labs" or "Nike golf research facilities". There would ONLY
be "varsity dorms" and the truth is that a form of "scholarship" could
be handed out which was much more like a "loan" in which a portion
of future earnings was due the school. You could get a BA in
football, baseball, golf, etc. Heck, you could get a BS in "sports
psycology".
