I have never really been able to articulate a rationale for practicing
golf at a driving range. Some irrational beleif siezes control of me,
under the assumption that practicing some sort of movement will improve
my golf game, and I'm off to squander another few dollars and set my
golf game back a fewe notches. I suppose I have an overwhelming
subconcious desire to remain at the 10-15 or so USGA index level of
golfing ability.

I abused my golfing aptitude at a local driving range a couple of weeks
ago, and since have yet to break 40 for nine holes. I currently play 9
holes at a time due to the idiocy of standard time and the fact that I
am not financially responsible enough to support myself, and thus must
sustain myself by functioning as the employee of another (to put it
nicely!).

I managed a round following my niggardly duties a couple of days ago,
manging a 43 on a tricked up course. I was able to strike the ball
solidly again for the first time since my session of "practice" at the
local driving range. I was particularly entertained by a putt that
tricked by the hole..and trickled on for about another 40 feet till it
acheived the endge of the green, at which time the ball accelerated,
and continued on down an embankment for about another 60 feet. I was
able to make the "up and down" from that point for a skillful bogie.

The course I played was a local muni, and I was honored with the
priviledge of sharing the course with a local leading family, who, in
my honor I assume, took one of my golf balls for their own. I suppose
my use of highly prized golf balls like the Srixon AD333 also provided
some encouragement, providing too much tempation, being such a ball of
such great quality in comparision to thier usual "striped ball".

In any event, I managed to hit 6/9 greens; first time I have managed to
achieve a GIR percentage greater than 50% since my masochism on the
driving range.

Today is a cool day, so the fair weather "golfers" will stay away. If
the few students lingering to write make up midterms could finish
SOMETIME TODAY!!!!! I might manage a few holes of golf...that the
retardedness of standard time might allow......which would surely beat
sitting here writing this drivel.....of course you would never catch me
*READING* anything like this!

;^)

It get dark here at about 5PM these days. We will have darkness at 4:30
before the year is out though. Got my nine holes in today...so I'm good
for another day! I haven't ridden in quite a while. I can't see myself
enjoying a round anywhere near as much if I were to ride. 57=B0F out
there today...so not much action...and the 2some I did run into let me
through. The grass is still green to boot! A little global cooling
here and there and golf will be a lot more enjoyable!

Feel better now? ;-)

I always go into shock at the conclusion of DST because our sunsets are
early (4:30 or so, and quick - especially if it is overcast, which is
the norm in Central Washington this time of year. This means, be on
the tee at 12:30 and hope there are no slo-pokes in front of you.

Wife and I walked our favorite 18 last Sunday under a cloudy 40* day.
I needed a full club more on every shot and drives were easily 20 yards
shy of normal. The good news is that we were playing golf the week
before Thanksgiving.
