We have a thread about bad holes - how about good designs.

I think my favorite design is over a lake with the far shore close on
one side, getting farther away as it gets closer to the hole. We
have to decide where to aim based on how far we hit the ball.

I particularly like those because one challenges the fader and the
other challenges the drawer.

Does Shaker have any holes that challenge the snap-hooker and
'Scotty Norwood block it right type player'?

Oh wait, we occasional snap-hook/Scotty-Norwood types are challenged
on every hole.

Sounds like your mamas bunghole, except for the pink part.

For me, it's pink, shaped like a tear drop, and has a small landing
strip at the top.

For me, it can be summed up in a couple of words: risk reward. Those holes
that have risk reward are a lot more fun to play.

We have a par 5 on our home course where the second shot is exactly as you
describe. Its nickname is "Jaws". The lake is only about 270 yds from the
tee and sharply downhill. It invites you to try to hit your drive as close
to the water as you can so you can bite off more of the lake on the second
shot. On the second shot, the narrow fairway across the lake runs
diagonally. If you try to bite off too much of the lake, you are in it! If
you play the shot too safely, you are through the fairway into the desert!
It's not a long hole but due to the psych factor it is the #1 handicap.

I know this isn't it but what is a couple of hundred yards between
friends?
