Subject: Dry-Fitting Shafts to Heads
When I am assembling a club I like to verify the frequency before epoxying
stuff together. What is the best way to dry-fit a clubhead to a shaft
(secure enough to stick into a frequency counter)?

Thanks.

dave

I use a small piece of aluminum foil.

I've used monofilament and dental floss, but the best IMO is a small
piece of the plastic used in bubble wrap envelopes. It really
compresses and holds the head on firmly.

Go buy yourself some fishing line.......8lb (3.6 Kg) monofilament is
perfect (typically 0.25mm - ten thou" thick. Simply cut a short length
(2-3") and either insert one end into the tip of the shaft, fold it back
on itself pn the shaft and jam into the hosel, or, if the hosel is
particularly loose simply wrap the line over the shaft tip so that there
are effectively two thicknesses to take up the slack.

All clubmakers I know use this method. BTW, a typical reel of
monofilament line is 1200M (4000')...so don't let it loose! I just use
an inch or so of masking tape to anchor the loose end on the reel.!
Cheers

Hmmmm -- easy, cheap, and effective. Must be a catch :-)

Thanks.
