Subject: DB Field was weak
Here's how hard it is to be Tiger Woods. His World Golf Ranking
average is currently 22.6 points. He got 23 points for winning the DB
Championship yesterday. That means that if he played an event like
the DB every week for the next two years, and won 104 weeks in a row,
at the end of that time he would have improved his ranking by 0.4
points. For context, he has improved his ranking since the beginning
of the year by over five points, and leads number two Mickelson by
almost 14 points.

23 points is pretty low for a PGA event. Tiger got 24 points for
winning in Dubai. The field was depleted by two factors: having the
draining PGA and WGC events the two previous weeks, and having a
big-time event in Europe the same week. Tiger and Vijay were the only
big stars in the field, and it showed --- they were fighting for first
around 15 under, everybody else was fighting for third around seven
under. Next year, though, the DB will be one of the qualifying events
for the $10M FedEx Cup, and should draw a very strong field.

Is it $10M for the Tour Championship total purse, or $10M for the winner? As
crazy as it sounds, I've read stuff that sounds like the latter.

Or maybe the event is a winner-take-all? How's *that* for pressure standing
over a twelve footer for birdie on 18?

$10 million to the winner; $35 million in the pool. And yes, it is
crazy.

And that's on top of the $28 million in prize money from the final
four tournaments.

Especially with Tiger going for his 24th win in a row.
