Bethpage. (Not from New York)

A number of tee times are always set aside for walk-ons. Those are the
slots that people who sleep in their cars wait for. New York state
residents can use the automated telephone reservation system after
registering with their NYS driver's license number. You need to call
seven days before at 7:00 PM and keep dialing until you finally get
through. If you're lucky, you'll be able to get an early tee time.
After about twenty minutes, all the early times are gone.

Before the USO there, they ran a number of stories about people sleeping
in their cars to get in line. Non-res fees are also thru the roof now.
It's probably as tough to get on there as at Torrey Pines, but I'll
bet a few minutes with some precise google searches will get you a tee
time booking company...or maybe you could call them directly on the
telephone?
