Excellent news. A true fighter. He will change the mentality of the US team. Let=B4s hope for a hard and equal fight in two years time. This is from the BBC: Azinger set for US Ryder Cup role Azinger is expected to renew his rivalry with Faldo Paul Azinger is tipped to be named on Monday as US Ryder Cup captain for the next match against Europe in 2008. The US media believe the 46-year-old veteran of four Ryder Cups will get the nod over Fred Couples and Corey Pavin. If selected, Azinger - part of winning teams in 1991 and 1993 - faces a tough task following America's third straight defeat in the competition in September. Europe have already chosen Nick Faldo as their captain for the next Ryder Cup at Valhalla, Kentucky. Azinger won the USPGA title in 1993 - a year which also saw him diagnosed with lymphoma in his right shoulder. A successful fightback culminated in his most recent Tour victory at the 2000 Hawaiian Open. A feisty competitor in his prime, he was just pipped by Faldo at the 1987 Open Championship at Muirfield. In recent seasons, he has also worked alongside Britain's six-times major winner as a TV commentator. The announcement of the US skipper will be made by the PGA of America during a conference call on Monday from Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville.

The PGA thought they needed an intelligent guy who was well-respected by his peers. But instead of Corey Pavin they chose the butthole, Paul Azinger. Looks like another rout for the Euros. Has Azinger ever beaten Faldo in anything? Can't wait to see the US team uniforms ..... all Camo.
