Can you buy Augusta merchandise anywhere on the web? (New stuff, not
used.) I'm heading down there for the Wednesday practice round.

newsgroups like rpe35mm

because.

This may work...only have a few days to get in your order though.

It's a mob at all times, especially the main shop by the front gate.
However, the alternate shop over by the back gate (behind the 5th
green) is usually a lot less crowded. You can also walk up the hill
from #16 to get to it.

ANGC has check stands throughout the course so you don't have to carry
lotsa stuff around all day. Just check them at the FREE check stand
and go back before you leave.

Two things you probably won't find at shops are film and camera
batteries.
So make sure you're all charged up before you get there and take some
backups.
Most people shoot digital now, but there are still a few film
shooters. I've been offered good money for a spare roll of film, so
there is a money-making opportunity there as well.

I'm pretty sure most of the official stuff can only be had at the
tournament. They do it that way because they are ANGC and they can.

The tip I'm hearing is to buy your souveniers first thing in the
morning, because it's a mob at the end of the day.

Enjoy!

Not cheap? I got a nice Masters logo hat for $10. And a flag for
$15. I'd say that's pretty affordable compared to the butt raping
you'll get in the Pebble Beach pro shop, believe me.

But the question remains, why buy the merchandise _before_ you get to
Augusta? Can't wait? Gotta look like you've been there before? Or
had a friend buy you some schwag? Ease up, you'll have all the goods
you need on Wednesday. ;)

Went to the PGA 2 years ago and the US Open this past year... it was a pain
getting through the gift shop (huge lines) and then you had to carry all the
stuff you bought.

The lines are pretty long at The Masters, too. But they move quicker than
at any other tournament I've been to. That's because the Augusta National
people have this down to a science, and they're very good at it. It's not
like other tournaments that only host a golf tournament every few years and
therefore their volunteers and staff only get to work these tournaments
every few years. At ANGC, they have essentially the same group of
volunteers and staff year in and year out, so they know the drill, and work
more efficiently. The whole thing just runs more smoothly.

Use some common sense next time and buy your schwag on the way out, instead
of buying it on the way in, and you won't have to carry it around all day.
Either that or just wear your schwag, if you can. (Of course if you're
there on a Sunday, you'll want to buy it early because it may be sold out by
day's end.)

At the Masters the "money pit" AKA merchandise tent, lots of cashiers= very
little wait, fair pricing & they have UPS shipping right there. Buy what you
want, wear the hat & send the rest home.

In the stands at the range is perfect for that.

Actually, compared to merchandise sold at most sporting events (including
golf tournaments), I found the merchandise at The Masters to be quite
reasonably priced.

What makes it so damn expensive is that they sell some of the coolest shit
you'll find at any golf tournament, so you'll want to buy more of it.

By the way, you don't have to be at the tunamint to buy stuff. First time I
drove through Augusta (on my way to Myrtle Beach), I stopped off and phoned
in an order for a shirt at the clubhouse, which they were only too happy to
sell me. I didn't get to go on the grounds, but they had the shirt sent out
to one of their guard houses, where I picked it up.

Grab a ham sandwich at the same time. Lord knows they're cheap enough. You don't want to throw away the plastic cup either.
And don't forget to head to the front of the clubhouse next to the driving range. Get your picture taken by the logo on the front lawn.

There's nothing for sale on the Masters' web site.
