What do you all think of the graphics they're showing when players are putting. Personally, I like the blue dashed line showing the projected putting path, but that yellow arrow pointing to where the players are supposed to aim is quite distracting. I've always thought it would be a good idea to highlight the hole sometimes when players are putting. Sometimes the hole doesn't show up very well on television.

I guess that yuck yellow thing is supposed to be an arrow, but it always looks more like an architects drawing of a circular bench around a column in a hotel lobby or something else I can't picture on a putting green. I wish they would just use a little red dot or red x, which would make it a lot clearer. Seeing the place these guys should aim does make one point a lot of people miss. On a breaking putt the place you aim is usually well wide of the actual path that the ball follows. I seem to recall one of those Pelz articles guaranteed to revolutionize my putting (if half those articles were true I would have negative putts per round by now :-) pointing out that most players picture the line of break and then aim at the top of the arc in that line, but in fact you have to aim a lot higher. Fortunately most players compensate for that without thinking about it but to do that you have to aim and execute differently for breaking putts which screws up your stroke. -- Warren Montgomery (wamontgomery@att.net) http://home.att.net/~wamontgomery

TV and Hollywood are copycat media. The yellow line worked very well for American Football, so people figure it will work well elsewhere.

This isn't the first time TV has tried to illustrate putting lines. Every time somebody sells them bigger computers and better graphic generators, they'll make a big deal out of their latest whiz-bang. Well anything that can get people to stop watching hockey... is a good thing. Maybe it would get dropped from TV altogether. :) Let's hae more graphics on hockey... :)

Do they still play hockey? Is it on The Hockey Channel now?

I'm not sure what their new contract is - but it's smaller and less covered. I watch a few Avalanche games during the regular season, but they are on a network owned by the owner of the Avalanche and Nuggets.

The NHL, in it's infinite wisdom, has Versus doing the hockey broadcasts. You get a game or two every Mon/Tues as long as there isn't something *BIG* happening in bull riding!

I agree with Laura, they should really not show the putting line or the arrow...just leave it as it is. When one goes to watch a tournament, there's no one king lines on the green. Those lines and the arrow are distracting.

I don't like the graphics they are using but one might be able to make a case for highlighting the center of the hole if it were done in as unobtrusive way as possible. It can sometimes be difficult to see the hole on the longer putts. Otto
