and I don't mean metalwoods either!

I've been battling drivers for more time than I like to think about.
Got 'em in big heads, smaller heads, senior to stiff shafts and it is
just frustrating to watch the inconsistency.

So I've been playing almost all the time with the St 2 driver
(persimmon) from Louisville Golf. Maybe it is shorter than a metalwood,
but not by much, but it is darn sure consistent for me and that
consistency is straight down the fairway.

So I took the fairway metals (ack, I hate that term) out of the bag and
put my 3,4,5 MacGregor WDX2 persimmons back in. Same story, maybe a
slight loss of distance, but made up for by accuracy. But I think there
is more and better for persimmon and me.

Ordered a K2 Niblick Utility wood from LG, 24 degrees, 4 wood length,
steel shaft. Got it today and all I can say is WOW! Distance is great
for a 7 wood (which is what this basically is), accuracy is right on the
money. The ball goes in the direction I want it to. No slice, no fade
unless I open up the face.

So since that worked fine, I decided to go the rest of the way. Ordered
a 3 wood Ginty and a 5 wood Niblick, as well as a 34 degree HL2 hybrid
from LG.

I'll be ready for the season by next week and I can't wait to see how
these all perform. Side benefits are that these are beautiful clubs and
nothing beats the sweet sound of a well hit persimmon wood!

BTW, after much research, I think I found out why persimmon and I mesh
so well. 74% or more of the weight is at the bottom of the club
according to the LG website. So weight distribution is the most likely
key to why it works for me when metalwoods don't.

Hmmm, that never happens to me and my KZG. Only crack sound I hear is
usually my back.

Yeah there is.... the crack that the KZG Gemini driver makes. With the
double titanium face... Catch it right and you get this loud crack sound...
and everybody just goes "WHOA"... With the double face, it's a whole
different sound that a regular metal driver.

That's a sweet sound.

Anyone else see the ScottTrade commercial where the guy hits a
persimmon wood and it makes the sound of a metal wood?

Good luck, Lloyd. I'm curious how you'll like them over the long
haul, but it sounds like you have some experience with LG already.

One thing of note, regarding weight distribution- I've noticed similar
with the cleveland HALO hybrids w/steel shaft- believe it or not,
center contact reminds me of wood clubs when hit "on the screws." I
know the materials are different, but some of the idea is similar- a
softer plastic material making the crown with metal below. Of course
the face is metal in this case, but I believe the feeling of that
style club is closer to wood than to "fairway metal."

I do. I've played their driver off and on for quite some time. Always
did like it, but I kept reading all the keting hype about the metal
woods and thought I could do better. For me, that didn't happen.

I've heard that before about the Cleveland HALOs but never tried
Cleveland gear.

You've got that right!
