Subject: ATT TV Commercials

On Sunday they finally started covering the golf tournament. I did a
few counts, and it was 4 mins of golf, and 2.5 mins of commercials.
Of the 4 mins golf, a lot of it was panning around from the blimp and
playing their theme music. Is that normal? I turned on Tivo and went
to the range.

Be glad you weren't watching Saturday -- 15 seconds of golf, 1 minute of
lame celebrity antics. 1 minute of lame commentary. 2 minutes of dull
interview, 2.5 minutes of commercials. Not even Tivo can save that. Par
for the tournament though. It's really too bad, since Pebble Beach is a
great course to look at and produces some really interesting results, but
golf is clearly secondary in the coverage

The ATTPBNPA is the worst for this sort of thing, with CBC approaching
near-Masters levels of fawning and sycophancy. This week, it's a
regular 72 holer, with just golfers, a great old course, and a pretty
good field. Then it's a new course (Tucson) for the match play so
there'll probably be some actual golf coverage. (Of course, I'm not
looking forward to all the endless explanations about how match play is
so different from stroke play, how anyone can beat anyone, how this is
or is not an opportunity for Tiger to continue his streak/non streak....)

I hope so... the course they'll be playing is spectacular. I played
the other Gallery course and ONE HOLE had more bunkers and traps than
the whole course I played at the time.
